Whether you’re window-shopping along Via Nazionale, or you’re taking a stroll through the streets of San Lorenzo and admiring the windows of the area’s traditionally Florentine and ethnic shops, the chances are that you’ll eventually find yourself in Piazza Indipendenza.
Happy to have come across another neighborhood to explore, at the centre of the piazza, on the corner of at the corner of Via XXVII Aprile, you’ll find Cafè Deluxeè—the perfect place to stop and grab a coffee. Open from 6pm until late at night, it’s has a very welcoming atmosphere and an America-style bistro feel to it. Just some of the familiar things you’ll find here are: vintage 1950s campaign posters, free Wi-Fi, cappuccinos, home-made cakes, International-style breakfasts, complete with muffins, pancakes, toasts, fresh fruit, egg Benedict and scrambled eggs, French toast… and in the afternoon, you can sink your teeth into burgers and fries or piadine while sipping a milkshake.
From fish to meat dishes, the lunch and dinner menus feature a wide range of local specialties at reasonable prices. If you’re feeling homesick? Try popping by the cafe for its Deluxeè Brunch, running from 11:30am to 4pm. It offers good music and a large buffet, featuring fresh fruit, quiches, yogurt, cereal and home-made cakes, in addition to a wide range of egg-based dishes (Florentine, Benedict, poached, scrambled, sunny-side up, etc), as well as fresh orange, apple and pineapple fruit juices, and a range of cocktails for just €14,90 (taxes included).
